I have surcomb to the world of blogging and with this, my very first and hopefully one of many post’s, I decided to start the journey on a rather serious subject and one that lies close to my hart. The BBC ran a story today about gender selective abortions (read the full story here http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-17136213 ) and this made me sit-up straight and think how people can come to such a decision, and why would they even consider this as a valid and reasonable option. I’m a very blessed and extremely lucky father of a healthy little boy. Getting pregnant for me and my wife was not easy, and thanks to the wonders of science and technology we were able to conceive first time round. The entire process was life changing to us, and one of my only thoughts during the entire time was that I didn’t care if it is a boy or a girl, as long as its a healthy baby I would be happy? I’m sure that there are many people reading this that can certainly relate to the joy of parenthood, and sadly there are also other people that are still yet to experience the magic world of pregnancy and parenting. With this in mind, the thought of people playing God and terminating a pregnancy just because the gender isn’t to their liking is just mind boggeling, especially with so many people out there trying to get pregnant whom I know will literally almost do anything to have children. Basically what they are doing is “accessorising” their lifestyle like a handbag or mobile phone with a choice of a boy or a girl, and if the gender of the the unborn baby is not to their liking they simply decide to abort. The mere thought of this make my insides tremble with disgust and horror. When is this ever justifiable or even considered to be “OK”, come on people, wake up and realise that having children and getting pregnant is not only a blessing, but it is also a missive responsibility that should not be taken lightly. I certainly wish that these individuals will come to their senses before it is too late….again. Please leave your thoughts and comments below, I would love to get everyones take on this. Happy reading, till next time….
